Digital “visitors” VS Digital “residents”

Who exactly am I? Am I actually the Resident or the Visitor? This is really interesting… Before I define myself on whether I am the Resident or the Visitor, I would be exploring the definition of the Resident and the Visitor based on my readings.

The “Resident” refers to the individuals who like to share information about their life and work, mostly via online. They use “tools” such as online banking, and shopping systems while regularly maintain their identity on the web.

On the other hand, the “Visitor” refers to the individuals who use the web when the needs arises. They do not feel the need to express themselves on the social platform, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn.

So… who am I?

After reading the articles of (White D., 2008) and (White, D.S. & Cornu, A. Le, 2011) and analyzing the result of my self-test, I most probably find myself to being a Resident in my personal life while a Visitor in my school and work life. According to the result of my self-test, there is much room for improvement on my current level of digital literacy.

Nevertheless, I am motivated to learn more through the module of Living and Working on the Web #MANG2049 and the learning course of MOOC #FLlearningnetworks. I believe that these will provide me with new insight and knowledge so that I will be ready to embark on my future digital marketing career!
